Where do YOU fit in?

The apostle, Paul, described the church as a body made up of many members which each have an important, God-ordained, role to play. (1 Corinthians 12) Every follower of Jesus Christ has been uniquely gifted and invited to play a role in leading and teaching others to know Him. We each begin to lead others when we take personal responsibility to use the gifts God has given us to help our church make disciples of Jesus Christ; whether they are starting a new relationship with Him or continuing on the journey they started years ago.

When invited to lead, many of us feel inadequate because we compare ourselves to other, successful leaders we know. God, however, does not expect us to have all the skills and abilities necessary to make a difference in someone else’s life. He invites us to affect others by His power and direction, trusting that He will empower and guide us as we go.

“God does not call the qualified, but qualifies the called.”

God also does not expect us to immediately jump into a position of large influence and responsibility. He invites us to simply love others as He loves them, use the gifts and skills we currently have to help them grow closer to Him, and begin to learn to lead like Jesus.

There are a number of ways within True North that a person can learn to lead:

Teach in children’s Sunday School. Plan a fun, fellowship event. Use your musical skills to lead worship. Host a short-term, small group video lesson. Start a blog about what God is teaching you and share it. Use your creative skills to share a lesson with the church. Share your personal testimony of transformation by Jesus.

What other special skills or experiences do you have, and how can you use them to influence others for Christ? Talk to one of our church leaders and ask them to help you begin to “learn to lead like Jesus.”
